The 2019 Farmers Markets at the Capitol are just around the corner! These events will be held on the lawn of the Michigan State Capitol Building, Thursday, July 25, August 22, and September 19 from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
In its’ 14th season, Farmers Markets at the Capitol provide a thriving marketplace showcasing Michigan food and agricultural products while educating our State decision-makers and Michigan residents on the importance of supporting farmers, ag-based businesses, and farmers markets. These fun and engaging events demonstrate how farmers markets impact the economic, health, and social well-being of communities across the state.
Last year more than 21,600 shoppers strolled through the market to support 86 unique Michigan farmers and ag-based businesses. Each market featured at least 80 vendors that provided fresh Michigan produce along with an extensive variety of unique Michigan-made and -sourced products. Members of the Lansing Symphony Orchestra were on hand serenading attendees with entertaining musical performances and each market featured interactive cooking demonstrations providing participants with easy-to-follow recipe cards and delicious samples.
