Supporting SNAP Acceptance at Farmers Markets in Your Community Webinar

Date(s) - 02/26/2014
10:00 am - 11:00 am

Of the more than 300 farmers markets in Michigan, almost half currently accept Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits via the Michigan Bridge Card. Farmers markets that accept SNAP benefits help improve the economic viability of their vendors, the health of their customers who have greater access to fresh fruit and vegetables, and the social capital of their community.

If you or the organization you work for wishes to support farmers markets in Michigan in that accept SNAP Bridge Cards, this webinar is for you!

  • Participants will learn how to find farmers markets in their community and to identify whether or not they may have the capacity to accept SNAP benefits
  • Participants will become aware of tools and resources available to farmers markets to increase their management and organizational capacity
  • Participants will become aware of tools and resources available to farmers markets that are ready to accept SNAP benefits and will develop a basic understanding of the steps necessary for the market to begin doing so
