The mission of the Farmers Markets at the Capitol is to provide a thriving marketplace that showcases Michigan food and agricultural products in an effort to educate our state decision-makers on the importance of supporting farmers, ag-based businesses, and farmers markets.
About Farmers Markets at the Capitol
Annually, the Michigan Farmers Market Association (MIFMA) hosts three farmers markets on the east lawn of the Capitol Building in Lansing.
Vendors travel from all over the state of Michigan to attend the Farmers Market at the Capitol. Their products vary from fruits and vegetables to artisan cheeses, eggs, meat, sauces, baked goods, apples, cider, donuts, pies, mixes, spice rubs, jams, fish, chocolates and caramels, soap, honey, beeswax products, popcorn and kettle corn, maple syrup, dog treats and cut flowers.
The markets accept SNAP Bridge Cards, Double Up Food Bucks, WIC Project FRESH, Senior Project FRESH/Market FRESH and Hoophouses for Health benefits.
Position your company and expose your brand at one or more Farmers Markets at the Capitol. These opportunities enable you to reach attendees before, during and after the markets via signage, advertising, social media channels, and more. The 2017 Farmers Markets at the Capitol reached approximately 18,800 shoppers that spent more than $235,000 with 83 unique Michigan farmers and small business owners across the three markets. Support the Farmers Markets at the Capitol today!
There are sponsorship levels available starting at $500, or you can contact MIFMA at (517) 432-3381 to customize a sponsorship package to meet your needs.
Applications for vendors and nonprofit participants open to members of MIFMA annually from April 1 to May 1. Please contact Farmers Market at the Capitol Coordinator Josh Prusik at email@example.com or call the MIFMA office at (517) 432-3381 if you have any questions about participating in the market(s).
These markets have space for approximately 75 vendors who produce and sell Michigan food and farm products. For the purpose of these markets, Michigan food and farm products are defined as products grown, raised, or gathered in Michigan or value-added products processed in Michigan that include ingredients grown, raised or gathered in Michigan. Preference will be given to vendors who showcase a majority of Michigan ingredients. Vendors must be MIFMA members in good standing before their application will be reviewed.
