MIFMA’s Response to USDA FNS Request for Information about SNAP Retail Food Store Eligibility

On August 20, 2013 the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) issued a notice in the FederalĀ Register requesting comments on strategies to enhance the retail food service eligibility requirements for SNAP retailers. One of MIFMA’s core beliefs is that everyone should have access to farmers markets and one of that ways that farmers markets can expand their accessibility is by accepting Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits delivered on the Michigan Bridge Card (formerly the Food Stamp Program).
