About the Webinar
The Michigan Farmers Market Association (MIFMA) is working with national and state partners to develop a standardized method for determining the economic contributions of farmers markets at the local level.   This webinar will focus on why collecting economic data is important to local planners and community leaders, the data collection strategy currently being piloted in 7 Michigan farmers markets, and opportunities for economic development professionals to get engaged with farmers market activities.  Join us to learn more about shared measurement and tools for streamlining farmers market data collection and reporting.

The farmers markets involved in this pilot project are located in Boyne City, Marquette, Menominee, Munising, Port Huron and Traverse City.  Project partners include the national Farmers Market Coalition, Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, Michigan State University (MSU) Center for Economic Analysis, MSU Extension, MSU Center for Regional Food Systems, Growing Hope and Fair Food Network.

Speakers will include:

  • Dru Montri, Executive Director of the Michigan Farmers Market Association
  • Amanda Edmonds, Executive Director of Growing Hope and Mayor of Ypsilanti
  • Myra Zyrburt, Market Manager of the Downtown Marquette Farmers Market

Market managers who have been certified through MIFMA’s Market Manager Certificate Program (MMCP) are able to receive 1 Professional Development Hour for Continuing Education
