Farmers to Markets Program Applications Now Available

March 4, 2026 | For Farmers and Vendors

The Farmers to Markets program is a guaranteed sales model for farmers selling at Michigan farmers markets. Participating farmers will have an established daily sales guarantee, calculated using previous market sales data and visitor counts, for each day they are selling at the market. If the farmer does not reach their sales guarantee, the market will purchase the remaining product to be donated to a local food pantry, food rescue, or wholesale operation.

Participating farmers will also receive a stipend to cover expenses commonly incurred to participate in farmers markets in order to increase the capacity and sales of farmers selling at markets and improve the viability of markets by ensuring consistent and reliable farmer attendance and participation. Markets will also receive marketing and data collection support to increase their capacity to better serve the needs of all of their vendors.

This program aims to overcome barriers markets face in recruiting and retaining farmer vendors, increase the dollar value and sales volume of Michigan agricultural products, and decrease the risk to farmers entering farmers’ markets.
