Announcing Our 2020 Michigan Farmers Market Conference Keynote Panel

The Michigan Farmers Market Association (MIFMA) is proud to announce the 2020 Michigan Farmers Market Conference Keynote Panel: Envisioning the Next Generation of Thriving Farmers Markets!

This panel of statewide leaders will lead a discussion about what the next ten years of farmers markets look like, and how they plan to move markets forward in the changing food system landscape.

Panelists include Janie Maxwell, Executive Director of the Illinois Farmers Market Association; Michelle White, Treasurer of the Ohio Farmers Market Network; and Emily Arthur, board member of the Wisconsin Farmers Market Association.

Janie Maxwell (above) is passionate about expanding local foods and farmers’ markets. As a Registered Dietitian she believes strongly in the health value of local food and advocates for local food by building systems that highlight the economic and health value of markets to communities, communities and farmers. Janie is a longtime farmers market advocate and customer. She is an avid cook and can be found at a farmers market somewhere, every week.

Michelle White (above) is treasurer of the Ohio Farmers Market Network, a 501(c)3 whose mission is to support and strengthen farmers markets in the state. A MIFMA certified market manager, she has over nine years of experience managing markets in the Columbus area, and is passionate about mapping the story of local food and farming.

Emily is the Market Manager of Janesville Farmers Market in Wisconsin and serves as a board member and secretary for the Wisconsin Farmers Market Association. Additionally, she serves as the executive director for the Downtown Janesville Inc. Business Improvement District.
