Julia A. Darnton Market Manager Certificate Program Scholarship Fund
The Market Manager Certificate Program is a voluntary program designed to encourage farmers market managers to pursue leadership skills and professional development in topics essential to market management.
Supporting market managers pursuing professional development through the Market Manager Certificate Program benefits the community by:
Helping to create a stronger, more accessible food system in your community
Supporting the ongoing education of a community organizer – your farmers market’s manager
Strengthening community development and prosperity
Standing behind the entrepreneurs and small businesses who seek to thrive within a farmers market setting
Professionalizing the role of a market manager and encouraging active leadership and retention of this important community position
By contributing to the Julia A. Darnton Scholarship Fund, your donation will allow MIFMA to select a market manager from a pool of qualifying candidates and offer support with program registration and related expenses. Scholarship donations provided for MIFMA to distribute are welcome at any amount.
The mission of the Farmers Markets at the Capitol is to provide a thriving marketplace that showcases Michigan food and agricultural products in an effort to educate our state decision-makers on the importance of supporting farmers, ag-based businesses, and farmers markets.
These public-facing events are the visual cornerstone of MIFMA’s work to advocate for farmers markets and farmers and vendors across the state. The 2022 season has concluded, and we look forward to sharing sponsorship information with you for the 2023 season soon!

Michigan Farmers Market Conference - Exhibitors and Sponsors
Thank you to the sponsors and exhibitors who joined us at the 2022 Michigan Farmers Market Virtual Conference! This event reached farmers market managers and stakeholders with information about the emerging trends in the Michigan farmers market community. Cornerstones of the conference included ample networking opportunities, a keynote speaker, and engaging roundtable discussions.
2022 Sponsor Information
Exhibitors and sponsors can host a virtual “booth” that conference registrants can access on the home page of the conference platform at any time throughout the event. Here, exhibitors can display a film, offer a special discount, and sign participants up for your newsletter. Exhibitors and sponsors are also able to list resources, share information, and more. Learn more about the possibilities for your virtual booth here.
In 2021, we hosted over 100 attendees at the first virtual format Michigan Farmers Market Conference. The audience included beginning and advanced farmers market managers, educators, farmers, and other members of the local food system. Attendees said that they were very likely to attend the 2022 conference as well as recommend the event to another farmer or market manager.
Sponsorship has closed for the 2022. We look forward to sharing information about the 2023 conference when it becomes available!
