Whatever role you serve at your farmers market, we know that you are not only dedicated to ensuring shoppers have access to delicious, locally grown food and other high-quality products, but that shoppers and the products they purchase are safe.

Public Act 100 allows the Michigan Liquor Control Commission to issue a special permit to small wine makers for
them to be able to offer samples and sell wine at Michigan farmers markets. These guidelines were developed through collaboration by the Michigan Farmers Market Association (MIFMA), the Michigan Craft Beverage Council and the Michigan Liquor Control Commission (MLCC)

It is important to evaluate the market manager annually in order to create space for reflection, provide feedback, review expectations, and plan for the future. This template is intended to be adapted to fit each market's unique situation.

The manual guides community-driven marketplace managers and operational staff through the process of deciding if accepting SNAP is right for their market. It also helps staff understand the resources needed to accept food assistance benefits and to gauge whether their market has the capacity necessary to make the program successful.

The program formerly known as WIC Project FRESH, now called WIC Produce Connection, is changing. Beginning this year, the program is eliminating the use of paper vouchers by program participants and adding benefits directly onto the participant’s WIC EBT card. MIFMA has created a Frequently Asked Questions resource to assist farmers markets, community-driven marketplaces, and vendors during this transition.
