Applications Open for Poster Session at 2025 Michigan Farmers Market Conference

January 28, 2025 | Farmers Market Conference

NEW! The Michigan Farmers Market Conference will host a poster session to help highlight programs, projects, and initiatives supporting the viability of community-driven marketplaces.

The conference will be held on Monday and Tuesday, March 3 & 4 on campus at Michigan State University in East Lansing at the Plant and Soil Sciences Building. The poster session will take place on Tuesday, March 4 from 11:15 AM to 12:00 PM. Posters will remain posted throughout the remainder of the conference.

We know that there is no “one size fits all model” when it comes to community-driven marketplaces. Every market is as unique as the community it serves. That’s why we want to hear from you! We are looking for posters that highlight programs, projects, and initiatives either taking place at or in service of community-driven marketplaces in Michigan that are innovative and are making positive change within their communities. Examples could include, but are not limited to:

  • A food access initiative designed to expand access to one or more community-driven marketplaces
  • A consumer education project designed to expand safe food handling practices
  • A new partnership between a community based organization and a community-driven marketplace
  • A Food as Medicine initiative connecting those with health related social needs to food resources in their community
  • A cultural event held in conjunction with a community-driven marketplace to expand the inclusivity of the marketplace and celebrate diverse identities within the community surrounding the market
  • Results of an evaluation or research project meant to inform community-driven marketplace operations in Michigan

If you would like to share a program, project, or initiative that you are/have been a part of, please respond to the call for abstracts below.

Presenters will then be asked to bring their flat, wall-mountable poster measuring no more than 36 inches tall by 48 inches wide to the conference registration table by Tuesday, March 4 at 9:00 a.m. The submitter of each chosen poster will be provided with a discount code worth $50 off the price of conference registration. We ask that you be present with your poster from 11:15 AM to 12:00 PM on Tuesday, March 4 to answer questions and discuss your program, project, or initiative with conference attendees. Posters may remain posted through Tuesday, March 4 at 5:00 p.m. Any posters not removed by that date and time will be discarded. MIFMA will not attempt to return unclaimed posters to presenters. Any questions can be directed to office@mifma.org or 517-432-3381.
