The mission of the Farmers Markets at the Capitol is to provide a thriving marketplace that showcases Michigan food and agricultural products in an effort to educate our state decision-makers on the importance of supporting farmers, ag-based businesses, and farmers markets. The 2025 season marks the market’s 20th season, and we look forward to celebrating it with you!
MIFMA’s Farmers Markets at the Capitol are a staple of downtown Lansing’s summer landscape. The market offers the smell of local floral bouquets, the sweet taste of vine-ripened produce, and so much more. Shoppers have a cornucopia of products to choose from including fresh produce, jams, jellies, baked goods, honey, maple syrup, meat, salsas, dips, pickled products, soaps and more. The Michigan Farmers Market Association (MIFMA) is excited to introduce the 2024 Michigan Farmers Market Conference: Harvesting Change! This annual event reaches farmers market managers and community-driven marketplace partners with information about emerging trends in the Michigan farmers market community. Cornerstones of the conference include ample networking opportunities, roundtable discussions, and of course, great local food.

The Market Manager Certificate Program is a voluntary program designed to encourage farmers market managers to pursue leadership skills and professional development in topics essential to market management.

By contributing to the Julia A. Darnton Scholarship Fund, your donation will allow MIFMA to select a market manager from a pool of qualifying candidates and offer support with program registration and related expenses. Scholarship donations provided for MIFMA to distribute are welcome at any amount.
We welcome sponsorships from organizations that support our mission to advance farmers markets to create a thriving marketplace for local food and farm products. All sponsorships will be reviewed and approved by MIFMA. Sponsorships are non-refundable.
